I use photography to explore ideas of identity and perceived reality, while experimenting with imaging processes. My first exhibit was in 1992 at the Galeria FF in Lodz, Poland. My pieces have been since shown around Europe and in Canada at various venues including the Museum of Cinematography, Lodz, and at the Museum of Photography, Odense, Denmark. I am currently developing a large installation entitled Meta-morphosis, for the Cinemathèque Québecoise in Montréal.
Meta-morphosis
I always wanted to break out of my body and shape-shift into another form. It is a means of escape or liberation from the limits of the persona. Although such morphing is imagined, my camera can make it concrete.
Using precise choreography and lighting I record a transformation on one frame without further manipulation. Like a shot in cinema, the image is constructed over time with rehearsed movement. The results yield raw states of human emotion.
